Yes God, We Are Daring You

As I write this, our family struggles with some concerns that I cannot solve on my own. Honestly, I'm thinking of taking a break from our church commitments as they can take a significant amount of our resources. Born-again Christians cling on to this bible verse whenever faced with concerns:

Malachi 3:10New International Version (NIV)

10 Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the Lord Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it."

Well God, I am we, the world are testing You. As a matter of fact, the seeds of doubt are once again planted in my being. I know my concerns may seem trivial in the grander scheme of things, there are wars, there is plenty of suffering, maybe I am being a spoiled brat, but they always say that you are a good God - the one who made the heavens and the earth. I'm daring You to prove them all wrong.

But at the same time, I can't help but feel that I am being tested or maybe goaded back into life outside of faith.

  • Try having a family to feed and being faced with a problem that is simply beyond you.
  • Try being faithful in tithing - to a fault.
  • Try acting irrationally maybe even irresponsibly according to the world's measure, but acting in complete faith.
  • Try to think of all these and at the same time witness the world converge on hatred, war and trivial debates.

Yes God, I am we, the world are daring You.

Prayer

My prayer is yes, maybe it's selfish. I'm just a human, with my own very worldly problems. I won't say it, you should know it. You're God right? Yes it's bigger than me. Other people have bigger problems, may their prayers, may their pain, may their concerns be addressed by you, according to Your will But right now, this is just me, thinking, feeling and as always writing. You know our circumstance, you know our weaknesses, you know our faults, you know our desires. We can turn our backs on you, but you know that too.

I'm daring You God, show us something spectacular. Show us you are God. Don't give us small answers. You created the universe.

I'm also praying for Andrew, Lord, You know him better than I do. You know what's going on in his life. I pray that You show yourself to him. Do it in a spectacular way. Not just little things. Show you are God.

This we ask in Jesus name, Amen.

P.S. This blog post was inspired by a debate. I have included this debate in my blog as it shows a lot about my current level of faith and thinking. Much thanks to my google plus friend, +Andrew Reiwitch for the questions most of us are afraid to ask.
