Papaya Project February 22, 2013 "Saha" and the First 100

Papaya Project February 22, 2013.

This contraption is called a "Saha". It is made up of the layers of a banana tree trunk. It's purpose is to protect the papaya seedling from over exposure to the sun's heat. Last night, it rained, I'm glad that the papayas didn't drown.

Prolonged exposure to too much moisture or flooding, makes the papaya seedling prone to root rot. So far so good. The Saha is doing its job well.
